I find it odd that people are only willing to publicly show their love for others one day out of the year. Does that mean love should only exist for a day? No. Love exists every day—it seeps into every facet of life.

On Valentine’s Day, package in hand, I ran into Helen at the intersection of Elm and York. We talked, and she invited me to an art exhibition she was heading to. Moments like these remind me how special it is to live on a college campus, and I dread the days when my closest friends won’t be within walking distance of my home. For now, I appreciate. And I love, and I reflect. My interaction that night spurred this letter. This letter will be about a list of things I love, family and friends aside.

• The feeling of a blushed face and the warmth that comes with it. It feels like a warm hug on a cold afternoon

• Tall ceilings

• Scrolling on Pinterest in bed while visualizing my outfit for the day, sometimes, the week

• Discussions, formal or informal, I love them all

• Short nails

• Fast typing

• Knee high socks

• Gold hoops

• Rings

• The breeze after a rewarding gym session

• Post-finals air

• Leaving my jacket at home

• Pebble ice

• Warm water; similarly, warm tea (not hot)

• Scribbled writing

• A homecooked meal

• Streams of consciousness & the flow state

• Parks

• Clean laundry

• Running my hands through freshly washed hair

• Aimless walking

• Finding a seat in a populated library

• Monthly playlists

• TED-Ed

• Waking up before my alarm

• And when I don’t, Dove Song Coo Call Sounds to stimulate an early morning

• Walk/bikeable cities

• Random encounters

• At night, holed up in a corner, conversations jump and circle and flow; conversations that are so exciting you wish time could stop

• A perfectly seasoned salad concoction

• Temporary experiences

• Permanent feelings

• Stained glass windows

• Background music

• Sitting on ledges

• The first snowfall of the year

• And the beginning of a new season
